Oceane’s story
2021 Scholarship Recipient
Oceane Mei Jones aspires to create art that communicates social issues specific to minorities in New Zealand to the wider population. Of Māori and Pasifika descent, Oceane is studying at the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts and is passionate about breaking down the stereotypes that have held her captive and inciting social progression on a global scale using video games and other art mediums. “I am not going to give up – even if it takes the rest of my life, I will continue fighting through my art.”
