Auckland Tourism, Events, and Economic Development (ATEED) is the economic growth agency for the Auckland region and is one of seven Auckland Council-controlled organisations (CCOs).
ATEED is tasked with driving innovation and transforming the local economy, so that Auckland is a desirable place to visit, live, work, play, invest and do business. ATEED began operating in November 2010 when the Auckland Council structure was established following the amalgamation of the previous regional council and seven city and district councils in the Auckland region. The economic powerhouse of New Zealand, Auckland has a population of 1.5 million and contributes 35 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). Auckland’s population is expected to grow by another one million by 2040, providing a stimulus for further economic expansion and opportunities in the region.
