The New Zealand Manufacturers and Exporters Association (NZMEA) was formed through the merger of the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association and the New Zealand Engineering Federation in 2007. Membership is limited to manufacturers and exporters making the NZMEA an exclusive advocate the manufacturing and exporting community. Association members make $2.7 billion in sales per year, with an export value of around $1.3 billion The NZMEA runs training programs and events relevant to manufacturers and exporters and are the voice of the tradable sector through their media and lobbying efforts.
A vibrant and growing manufacturing sector that will form the foundation of first world living standards for all New Zealanders is the goal of the Association. Against the backdrop of globalisation, success in manufacturing and exporting gets ever more challenging meaning that a focus on high value-add firms is vital for New Zealand's prosperity.
This future requires a focus on the tradeable parts of the economy that earn New Zealand's living. A vision to improve this productive part of the economy drives the NZMEA's activities.
