Fourteen years ago the VSI Electronics and the Electronics Exporters Association of New Zealand (EXPANZ) recognised the need to acknowledge excellence in their industry and established the Electronics Award.
By collaborating with the New Zealand Software Association (NZSA), the occasion evolved into what is now the prestigious PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards.
No longer simply sector-based, today’s Awards promote the high tech industry as a whole, recognising it as an integral part of New Zealand’s economy that significantly contributes to growth.
The Awards celebrate New Zealand’s highly successful and burgeoning high tech companies representing the electronics, software, biotechnology and telecommunications sectors.
Some of New Zealand's biggest high tech success stories have been amongst the previous winners.
Each year the Awards are run by an industry designated committee, structured as an incorporated society.
The events are held in rotation in the three main centres, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland with the capital city Wellington hosting the PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards in 2007.
