Originally established in 1993 today's New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards enjoy the support and input of all of our highly successful technology industries including ICT, electronics, software, bio-technology, creative, telecommunications and digital media. These industries are keen to get behind the growth and promotion of New Zealand's hi-tech sector and put our talented Kiwis well and truly in the spotlight.
The New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards Programme for 2011-2012 provides the premier showcase and networking opportunities for the producers of New Zealand's high technology. Judged by both a local and international judging panel, the NZ Hi-Tech Awards continues to gather status and recognition from outside the industry.
Winners include companies such as Datacom, AfterMail, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Navman, Neuren Pharmaceuticals, Orion Systems, Compac Sorting Equipment, Endace, Xero, Rakon, Right Hemisphere, Tait Electronics, and individuals such as Sir Angus Tait, Rod Drury, Neville Jordan, Selwyn Pellett, Ian Taylor, Dennis Chapman, Sir Peter Maire, Sir Gil Simpson, Paul Hargreaves and Brent Robinson.
Every year the programme will deliver a series of six events. The Gala Dinner will be rotated around Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch but will return to Auckland every second year, with all other events being circulated to ensure that each centre gets to host at least one event per year.
The NZ Hi-Tech Trust was established to advance the growth and success of New Zealand's hi-tech industries through an awards and educational programme. All profits generated by the Awards programme are reinvested by the NZ Hi-Tech Trust to ensure the continuance of the programme and to benefit the long-term development of the industries it supports.
